This year my brother Alex celebrated his 40th birthday. For the occasion I needed a special gift. But what to offer to a man who is blessed to have no special needs! As I was still pondering over this my husband Boris suggested that I craft a ‘box or something’. Yes! I really needed my husband’s input for such a great idea. I used the template from my CraftHappy Cuttables Cube Box and cut out the design in my favorite paper from my Document It kit which happens to be the one my brother likes a lot too. For the special touch I used photos from my brother’s baby and childhood albums together with a recent photo his photographer friend took of him. I filled the box with a bag of candy, tucked some money underneath and wrapped a tulle ribbon around the closed box. Guess who was delighted? I bet it was the best birthday present ever! Product available for purchase at Happy to Create: CraftHappy Cuttables: Cube Box CK01, Document It Maxi Kit, Document It Bis Maxi Kit, Document It Love SNAP Kit

I can’t tell you that this layout is the result of a deep and wise reflection. It came together naturally. I actually had to create a layout for my Bohemian Rhapsody Maxi Kit. I met this young lady via istock and the colors of the photo were very appealing. I randomly chose a word art strip and the layout was ready to be uploaded. It is only when I had a second look at the final result that I realized how fitting this page is: ‘ALWAYS BELIEVE IN YOUR DREAMS’ How true! This advice should not only be given to our kids but also should we tell ourselves regularly that believing and pursuing our dreams is well worth it. I am not at destination yet and I have no clue if I will ever get there. The road sometimes curvy and some paths are misleading. Sometimes I seem to get there more quickly, sometimes I am moving on like a slug. All in all I try to follow the road steadily and the deep satisfaction resulting from following my heart and believing in my dreams is priceless.

A few months ago I was challenged by a few teammates and friends at Scrapgirls to choose my word for the year 2011. ’Cherish’ seemed to be appropriate to me. I created a little 4×6 card which I printed and laminated. I keep one card in my purse and one close to my computer. cherish to hold or treat as dear to feel love for to care tenderly to nurture to cling fondly to I want to cherish the moment, cherish the memories, nurture the everyday. I need to gain back some balance between my family and my art to be able to cherish more. As of today I especially want to cherish the memories of what I leave behind. I care tenderly for the friends I met during the last couple of years and this card will be both a reminder for the future as a reminder of the past. Digital scrapbooking project uses my Document It Maxi Kit available here at Happy to Create.
