9. First day of works for repainting the staircase.

10. The kids played a lot with the Lego in Lily’s room. The smallest space, the most fun!

11. Nicolas builds amazing machines with his Lego Technic.

12.Frederic is very much into creating his own comics at the moment. Way cool! Jimmy is sad that he can no longer play with his buddy.

13. It is getting dirty in the staircase.

Our first week in 2012.

Journaling:

2.Lily brought her darling Christmas crafts from school.

3. New profile picture for my social media accounts. We receive a letter form the US with 3 colorful stamps. Frederic is delighted.

4. A busy working day cleaning the house and organizing my studio.

5. Thunderstorms and rain all day long. Scary! Snuggling with Lily in the evening.

6. Frederic wins the crown at school for 3 King’s Day.

7. Sports for the whole family in the morning. Moving furniture in the afternoon.

8. More moving and installing Frederic’s bed in Lily’s room.

Week 2 - COLD

COLD … difficult. We are not really facing COLDness over here at the moment. No snow, no ice. But we had a few COLDer days last week and the sun even peeked out. In the evening, due to the COLDness, the sky was beautifully colored at sunset. Well I guess that’s the best shot I can offer for this week’s challenge.

This will be my 3rd take on a photography project. After failing twice I will use these themes as inspiration and take a photo a week. I don’t seem to be able to keep up with the pace and the pressure of posting in other galleries, therefore I will set up my own guidelines and do it just for fun here on my blog.

Week 1 - NEW

A lot of things and thoughts could have been the subject of my first picture regarding what is NEW in 2012. But my NEW fashionable shoes keep popping up in my head. Shoes and bags are part of what superficially defines me, so I believe that this photo is quite reflective. I love taking pictures of my shoes/feet standing on the beach, in the snow, in the woods whenever I take walks or travel. When my husband Boris saw the picture posted as cover on my facebook timeline he asked me: ‘Do you want to show off your NEW shoes or our NEW tiles?’ My reply: ‘Both!’

I am continuing what I started last year, inspired my my friend Mandy Steward.

PERSISTENT is my word for this year 2012.

• Persistent in creating my art, pursuing my dreams and goals.
• Persistent in what I started and cherished last year.
• Persistent in pursuing happyness, cherishing moments spent with my family and friends.
• Persistent in being who I am and staying faithful and true to myself!

I will print this card to keep one in my purse and one on my desk close to my computer. As the year moves on I am sure it will motivate me to move on and pursue my goals.

I am sitting here same time same place as last year when I created this card with my chosen word for 2011.

I am pondering about what happened during the year and if I really cherished each moment. I am sure that I did not always succeed but all in all I believe that I did really good.

• I rediscovered a new and happy way of combining job and fun. It was freeing and made me cherish the little time I could spend creating my art.
• I hang out in the sun reading a lot of books (something I hadn’t done for years!!).
• I ordered a weekly delivered organic vegetables and fruit basket thus getting back to cooking and baking new dishes on an almost daily basis. I had fun and the family adored!
• I cherished the simple moments by purchasing an old camping car and spending great quality time in some local camping places.
• I traveled a lot cherishing the special time spent with my family and friends in Germany, France, Poland, Austria and California USA.
• I cherished the memory of beloved family and friends who passed this year.
• I tried to have an open ear for my friends and nurtured the sincere friendships I have locally and throughout the world.
• All these little moments I spent with my kids, all the laughter and the happy moments, I tried to suck them up and engrave them in my memory.

Journaling:
This week was not a special one. It was filled with the regular family stuff. The sky was gray, it was windy and humid, I did not sleep well and was in bad mood. My back hurted for a few days and I was not very friendly to the people I love most. But why is this week worth the memory? Because a few things happened which made me recall that all is still good in my small world. I want to remember that I am not alone, I mean I believe that I am not alone and that there is a higher power, but when I say I am not alone I mean that I have the best family and friends ever. That it is ok to turn around to them and just tell them what bothers me. Because they are only an email or a phone call away to lift me up, to motivate and inspire me. I want to remember that instead of hiding I need to step out and seek for help. The sun is right around the corner. It is called friendship!

The story behind Lily’s glasses. Well worth a digital scrapbooking page.

Journaling:
You got glasses. When? How? What? Yep, glasses! Fake glasses. Actually without glass! Here is how it all happened. Each day you see me put on my glasses when I start working at my computer, reading a magazine or doing something crafty. You wanted to imitate Mami and grabbed my glasses. Obviously I was not very fond of this idea and told you not to do so. ‘But I want to be like you Mami’ you told me ‘So I need glasses.’ How to explain the necessity of real glasses versus no glasses to a 4 year old Sweetie. I remembered these old glasses of mine in the drawer, actually my very first ones (yes I still had them like almost 20 years later) took out the glass and offered them to you to play. Now when you start drawing you put on your Mami-look-alike glasses. How could I refuse this pleasure to you!? The art you create while you wear your glasses almost becomes unimportant …… you look so darn cute!
